Getting butterflies in your stomach? Worrying about how a test is going to determine your life? It’s that time of year again! SAT testing is underway and our juniors are feeling the pressure.

Every April, juniors all around the country are preparing to take a test that is seen on college applications and academic awards.

While taking the test can be nerve wracking and stressful, the outcome can be rewarding. Throughout junior year, students take classes and review samples to help them get ready for this big test. In this process, the amount of work the students and the teachers put into getting ready pays off.

Getting ready for the test, students don’t only practice the basic questions, they practice the challenging ones as well. Our juniors were asked if they felt like they were prepared before the test. Jonny Lucatero responded, “Yes, I do feel prepared for the SAT. I reviewed over some things and I feel pretty confident about taking the test.”

Reviewing does make a difference, even if skill is needed to feel confident. Along with the question of preparedness, we also asked Lucatero if he felt that Grand River prepared him enough for the test. He replied,  “I do believe GRP prepared us for the SAT’s, we have great teachers who make sure we’re prepared. They also include all the resources that are required to be successful.”

Teachers are here to help, and for Lucatero, they did their job well.

After the test, we asked students how they felt and what the hardest part of the test was. Junior, Kylie Barillas replied, “The essay because there wasn’t enough time.”

Time crunches can be stressful and the results might seem final, but you always have the option to retake the test as many times as you feel is needed to get your desired score. So take a breather, relax, and enjoy the roller coaster called high school.
