Senior Zaekwon Bizzell was donating blood at our seasonal blood drive., while Jada Jennings was volunteering.

On Tuesday Oct. 17 Grand River had their first blood drive of the year; it was held in the gym from 10 am-2 pm.

We asked Junior Victor Jauregui, who was a first-time donor how he felt that he donated for the first time; he said, “my arm might sting but my soul stings knowing I saved someone.” Jauregui also mentioned his reasoning for donating was to saves.

We also interviewed a seventh time donor, senior Mariam Qahtan. When asked why she continues to donate Qahtan said, “I feel good because I helped a lot of people.”

The gym was full of  people coming in and out the doors. There were around 40 students and several teachers who donated which included a large amount of new donors.

“We actually had more people donate then originally planned and a record number of new donors,” said math teacher and blood drive coordinator Emily Wyble.

But other than the busy day it turned out to be great; the donors were happy that they were able to save peoples’ lives.
