The girls’ varsity soccer team defeated conference foe Holland Calvary Christian last Monday with a final of 7-2.

The Lady Titans (1-1) played a fierce second game Monday winning 7-2 over Holland Calvary. The Lady Titans controlled both sides of the field early on and took the lead in the first half and kept the lead in the second with the opposing team only scoring two goals.

Junior Shelly Vargas played at her finest scoring three of the team’s seven goals. Vargas scored two goals in the first half and added another in the second.

“Shelly she was on top, always took a shot and stayed on top of her game,” said Junior Michelle Avina.

Other top performers for the team included Freshman Jenesis Orr, who score two goals, and Juniors Avina and Tiana Hughes, who added a goal each.

“It went pretty good. The outcome was good, the team worked well, but there’s still always room for improvement,” said Avina.

The win was the team’s first of the season having previously lost to a talented Holland Black River squad. As they progress through the season, the team will continue a strong work ethic each day in hopes that as a team they can continue to build chemistry.

“Work outside the field more conditioning its a huge factor, be aware every position matters everyone is important” (Tiana Hughes, 20).

The Lady Titans will play another conference game on Friday, April 27 against Zion Christian at home at 4 pm.
